Bio

Trish Purnell-Webb is a Clinical Psychologist, Certified Gottman Marital Therapist and Master Trainer and Consultant for the Gottman Institute.  She has been working in private practice with young adults, adults and older adults since 1997.  She has been a Board Approved Supervisor since 2000, is an assessor for the Supervisor Training and Approval Program (STAP) and an approved facilitator for Board approved Master classes for Supervisors.

 

 In recent years Trish’s clinical focus has been on working with couples in highly complex interpersonal relationships with a range of clinical comorbidities, e.g. those where one or both partners are affected by complex trauma, personality disorders, mood disorders, or where there have been betrayals that include affairs and/or addiction including alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex, etc.  Because of Trish’s expertise in couples therapy and clinical mental health disorders especially Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Mood Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder, Trish has been involved in the development and delivery of a number of couples programs for the Department of Veteran’s Affairs, The Australian Defence Force and Open Arms.  Trish is also an approved supervisor for clinical staff working for Open Arms, Anglicare SA and NSW.

 

Trish is Clinical Director of the Burleigh Heads Psychology Clinic in Burleigh Heads, Queensland , Australia, and the Senior Partner of Relationship Institute Australasia.  She is an active educator and speaker to many community and professional organisations, and provides accredited training to therapists looking to become skilled in Gottman Marital Therapy throughout Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

 

As a presenter, Trish is regarded as an engaging, personable, erudite and respectful speaker who is able to connect easily with her audiences and use every day examples and humour to illustrate her point and assist listeners’ understanding of concepts and ideas.  Trish is regularly invited to make comment in media including print, radio and television.
