Amaia is known for her warm, relaxed, and genuinely curious approach. Her ability to create a safe space invites openness and honest reflection. She works collaboratively, ensuring your needs and goals remain at the centre of your personalised treatment plan. She integrates several approaches to suit your needs and ensure the work feels relevant for you. Amaia’s work is guided by attachment and relational principles and informed by an understanding of trauma, its impact, and recovery.

Trained in clinical psychology and relationship therapy across the UK, Australia, and Spain, Amaia has worked in hospital, forensic, community, emergency, and private practice settings, supporting individuals, relationships, and families from diverse cultural backgrounds across the lifespan. Given the nature of her work settings, she has observed firsthand how early attachment experiences shape relational patterns, emotion regulation, and overall wellbeing, as well as the reparative potential of secure attachment and connection in therapeutic and interpersonal relationships. Amaia has led published research on trauma and chronic pain, reflecting her interest in the connection between mental and physical health.

Amaia supports relationships and individuals navigating anxiety, depression, and low mood, as well as relational trauma resulting from prolonged adversity. She also works with clients experiencing challenges in self-esteem, identity, communication, parenting, and sexual intimacy, and with those managing stress, burnout, grief, and major life transitions.

Her therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing on Schema Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Circle of Security-informed practice, underpinned by systemic and psychodynamic perspectives. Amaia provides sessions in both English and Spanish.
